Dr. Rick Silvey joined the faculty of the 花椒直播 in 2000.
He earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree from Missouri Western State University and both his
Master鈥檚 Degree and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Dr. Silvey has been teaching mathematics since 1992 and has taught at Missouri Western
State University, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Maple Woods Community College,
Johnson County Community College, and Allen County Community College.
Dr. Silvey teaches a wide range of courses including calculus, linear algebra, statistics,
math reasoning, math modeling, probability, history of math, modern geometry and abstract
algebra.
Dr. Silvey's research interest is in the field of Numerical Linear Algebra. In particular,
he developed a hybrid algorithm using the QR Algorithm and Rayleigh Quotient to extract
the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a symmetric matrix.
