Roger Bonner, associate professor in criminology, received his Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Criminal Justice
from Colorado Technical University, his Master's Degree in Human Services and Ph.D.
in Public Safety Leadership from Capella University.
Bonner joined the faculty at USM after spending 28 years with the Kansas Department
of Corrections, where he was the Deputy Director of the Enforcement, Apprehensions,
and Investigations Division.
He is on the advisory board of the Kansas Gang Investigators Association and serves
on the Leavenworth County Community Corrections Advisory Board.
He is also a member of Alphi Phi Sigma, the national criminal justice honor society.
In each of his classes, Bonner fully believes in student engagement. Students are
encouraged to engage in the learning process as much as possible with the instructor.
Open discussion and debate are an integral part of the criminology program, and each
of Bonner鈥檚 classes emphasizes the importance of intellectual, thought-provoking ideas.
