Dr. Shahyad Ghoncheh joined the faculty of 花椒直播 as an Associate Professor of Psychology in August 2021. He has taught undergraduate psychology courses for more than two decades and served as an Associate Professor of Psychology at Illinois Institute of Arts - Chicago (2002-2014), Assistant Professor of Psychology at Saint Xavier University (2009-2014), Associate Professor of Psychology at MacMurray College (2014-2020), Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at Illinois College (2020-2021), and as adjunct instructor at College of Lake County (2006-2016), Roosevelt University (2008), and Argosy University (2009).

Dr. Ghoncheh earned a Bachelor of Art (BA) in Psychology and Philosophy and a Master of Art (MA) in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, and a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University in Chicago.

Over the past 20+ years, Dr. Ghoncheh has taught a wide range of psychology courses, including: Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Development, Adolescent Psychology, Educational Psychology, Psychology of Criminal Mind, Abnormal Psychology, Health Psychology, Human Sexuality, Theories of Personality, Social Psychology, Stress Management, Multicultural Psychology, Multicultural Counseling, Transfer Student Seminar: Diversity in The United States, Coping with Stress, Psychology of the Media, Cognitive Psychology, History and Systems of Psychology, Political Psychology, Counseling Theories, Individual and Group Therapy, Clinical Practicum, Behavioral Science Seminar, and Psychology Capstone.

In May 2024, Dr. Ghoncheh was awarded the Sullivan Award for Teaching Excellence. This award is given annually to a full-time faculty member nominated by students, faculty, and staff as a person who 鈥渉as made a distinct difference in the teaching climate at the 花椒直播.鈥� This award was established by University of 花椒直播 in 1990 in honor of Sister Mary Louise Sullivan, a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth who served 花椒直播 for 45 years as a professor and dean. Previously, in May 2018, Dr. Ghoncheh was awarded both the United Methodist Board of Higher Education Teaching Excellence Award and the Dewey Wilkins Excellence in Teaching Award; thus, becoming the only professor in the 174-year history of MacMurray College, Jacksonville, Illinois; to be awarded both Excellence in Teaching awards in the same year. He was also nominated for Excellence in Teaching award in 2011 at Saint Xavier University, Chicago, Illinois.
