If your interests are in business and playing a critical role in managing successful organizations, the 花椒直播鈥檚 Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration (MBA) accounting programs are designed for you.

USM鈥檚 accounting programs equip students with the knowledge and skills to function as key leadership partners for management decision-making at all levels of organizations.

At USM, you'll learn from expert faculty who possess years of academic and practical real-world experience. You'll gain a thorough understanding of basic and advanced accounting principles, auditing, taxation, cost management, regulatory reporting, and analytics. Discover how to manage and report on financial activities using fact-based decision-making skills. Develop critical thinking and strategic leadership skills by working closely with faculty in small classroom settings.

With a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, with a concentration in accounting, graduates find career opportunities as:

Supplementing their coursework, all USM accounting students gain hands-on practical accounting experience through internship opportunities at firms within the local Kansas City region and across the United States. 
 
The demand for accounting graduates is consistently high. With regard to compensation, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported accountants and auditors earned a median $79,880^ per year in May 2023, plus benefits, such as educational assistance, retirement/savings plans, bonuses, and health care options. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also projects that the accountant and auditor occupations will grow by 6% through 2031, with over 136,000 annual openings.

Typical Time Requirements:

  • 4 years: Graduate with Bachelor of Science in Accounting
  • 5 years: Meet the requirements to sit for the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exams*
  • 6 years: Earn an MBA (Master of Business Administration) Degree, with a concentration in accounting

  • MGT231 Principles of Management
  • MKT231 Principles of Marketing

Upper-level course coursework for a major in accounting includes 33 semester hours of accounting theory and practice.
