This chai flavored smoothie is one of Kuteer’s creations during his first week of Matthew Kenney Online Academy. It’s absolutely delicious and bursting with the spices we love, including cardamom, cinnamon and ginger, and it helps warm the body up in this cool weather. Another plus is that it’s naturally sweetened with fiber-rich dates, so it won’t spike your blood sugar the way a drink from your favorite coffee chain might.
Like most smoothies this one requires no fussiness and the result is sweet, spicy and dreamy. We love a full and quite strong chai flavor so the recipe is made accordingly. That being said, please feel free to play around with the spices to create the perfect mixture for you!
Dreamy Chai Smoothie
2 frozen sliced bananas
3/4 cup / 180 ml almond milk, unsweetened
1/4 cup / 60 ml carrot juice
2 Medjool dates, chopped
4 cardamom pods, ground
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, ground
1 teaspoon Maca
1 teaspoon ground vanilla bean
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
A pinch of salt
1 teaspoon hemp seeds, for garnishing
Place all ingredients, except hemp seeds, in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Serve in glasses and garnish with hemp seeds.
