Dr. Sunni Alford, OTD, OTR/L, CHT is an instructor of occupational therapy in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program at the 花椒直播 in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Dr. Alford received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Kansas in 1990 and post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy in 2012 from the University of Kansas. She attended a 14-week Hand Therapy Fellowship at Texas Woman鈥檚 University in 2002 and received a Certification in Hand Therapy in 2003.

Dr. Alford has been an occupational therapist for over 34 years working in acute, skilled, and outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation settings. She has served in many management positions including a Director of Rehabilitation for Delta Rehab Systems in Florida, A team leader and site coordinator for HealthSouth Rehab hospital in Panama City, Florida, and a clinical consultant for Pinnacle Rehabilitation in northern and central Florida. She was an adjunct professor in occupational therapy at the University of Kansas from 2011 to 2014 while working full-time as a clinician. She came to the 花椒直播 from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri where she was a tenured professor of occupational therapy for nine years. While at Rockhurst, she served as the Chair of the Institutional Review Board and Occupational Therapy Admissions.

Her scholarship interests are in upper extremity rehabilitation, neuroplasticity, the role of the skin and fascia in peripheral nerve entrapment, assessment of neural tissue irritability, orthotic design, musculoskeletal sonography, and post-COVID condition鈥檚 effect on occupational performance and wellbeing.

Dr. Alford has presented at several local and national conferences including The American Occupational Therapy Association and The American Society of Hand Therapist鈥檚 annual conferences. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, The American Society of Hand Therapists, The Kansas City Hand Special Interest Group, and the Golden Key International Honor Society

She is originally from Lansing, Kansas and enjoys spending time with family, listening to live music, and watching sports.  She loves being on the water, taking trips to the beach, and spending time outdoors. She is also an animal lover and has a dog, two cats, and a bird.
