Graduating with Honor
Honors graduates are distinguished among their fellow peers during commencement.
The 花椒直播 recognizes the following academic honor achievements.
Degree with Distinction
USM graduates with at least 45 credit hours earned at the 花椒直播 are eligible for earning a degree with distinction. These graduates demonstrate superior scholarship with outstanding cumulative grade point averages: cum laude (3.50); magna cum laude (3.70); and summa cum laude (3.90). Graduates earning a second USM degree may qualify, under unique requirements.
Honors within Major
Graduates must complete two honors-in-course or honors-in-field projects, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA in major courses, and earn recommendation from departmental faculty.
All-University Honors
3.70 GPA is required overall, participation in departmental honors and Honors Seminar, and recommendation by the Honors Council for all-University Honors.
Kappa Gamma Pi National Honor Society
Graduates are recognized by faculty as outstanding in scholarship, leadership, and service. Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher required, and no more than 10 percent of senior class can be selected.
Phi Alpha Theta
A national honor society that recognizes and encourages excellence in the study of history. Students who have 12 hours of history and meet the requisite GPA are eligible for selection in junior or senior year.
Sigma Theta Tau
The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, is advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. STTI membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, and to nursing leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
*Note: Only undergraduates are eligible to graduate with honors.
