Honors Students PresentingThe Honors Program challenges capable students to the best scholarship within their power, encourages independent thought, brings students and faculty into dialogue about meaningful questions, and contributes to the climate of a community of learning.

The Honors Program offers a variety of learning and social opportunities for students to expand their worldview, educational culture, and connection to the USM community.


Incoming Freshmen Admission Requirements

Any incoming freshmen who meet two of the following three criteria will be considered for the 花椒直播 Honors Program:

  • An ACT score of 25 or higher
  • A cumulative high school GPA of 3.70 or higher
  • In the top 10% of their graduating high school class (if the graduating high school uses class rank)

Incoming freshmen will be asked to fill out an application form and may be asked to interview with the honors coordinator and/or faculty prior to admission to the program. 


Transfer Students Admission Requirements
  • An incoming transfer student with a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher will be invited into the 花椒直播 Honors Program
  • Transfer students will be asked to complete an application form and meet with the honors coordinator prior to admission


Currently Enrolled 花椒直播 Students
  • Current students who maintain a 3.70 GPA or higher will be invited to join the Honors Program in their sophomore and junior years
  • Current students will be asked for a faculty recommendation form

In some cases, the Honors Coordinator may waive a particular entrance requirement for a given student based on other indicators of academic performance.

Remaining in Good Standing

To remain in good standing in the Honors Program, students must maintain a:

  • 3.70 cumulative GPA
  • a 3.50 GPA in their major
  • Complete one 3鈥恈redit Honors Seminar (HN 350) during their time at USM
  • Complete two Honors projects (one鈥恑n鈥怌ourse and one Honors鈥恑n鈥怓ield Project) during their time at USM
  • Attend regular Honors functions and events both on and off campus throughout the year (four cultural events each semester and three Lunch and Learns each semester). These activities will be communicated through an Honors Tracking course (EN 150) in which all students are enrolled during their time in the program.
