Requirements

The USM undergraduate degree-completion program is ideally suited for students who have completed a number of their general education requirements.

You will work one-on-one with a faculty member to integrate your past learning and college credits into our program鈥攐r to complete any required courses you鈥檙e lacking within the context of the program.

Transfer up to 90 credits.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on any previous undergrad coursework to be admitted.

To apply, you'll submit:

A completed application and $25 application fee
Official transcripts from all undergraduate institutions

We recommend that application materials be submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of the term in which you wish to enroll.

Our program is designed to meet the needs of busy individuals balancing work and family commitments.

You may receive credit for life experiences. A prepared portfolio, detailing your experience, will be judged by a committee determining the amount of college credit you will be granted (up to a maximum of 30 hours).

Only grades of 鈥淐鈥� or higher are accepted for education courses and general education courses that inform elementary education content areas. USM's total bachelor's program requirements are 120 credits (including applicable transfer classes).

Interdisciplinary Studies Major

You will choose two professional areas of concentration.

Main Concentration 鈥� 21 credit hours; nine must be upper-level
Area of Concentration 鈥� 18 hours; nine must be upper-level

Many students transfer in some general education coursework. These classes may also be taken online at USM.

EN 110 Principles of Composition 3 credits, or EN 111 Composition 1, 3 credits
EN 112 English Composition 2, 3 credits

GE 301 Gen Ed Capstone, 2 credits
TH 112 Introduction to Spirituality, 3 credits
3 credits of Math, MA 134 or higher
6 credits of humanities - must be from two different areas of study (Communication, English (including literature; excluding EN 200), History (excluding HI 301, HI 455, and HI 569), Philosophy, Theology)
3-4 credits of Natural Science with Lab
6 credits of Social or Behavioral Sciences - must be from two different areas of study (Criminology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work)
3 credits of Theology
