(Leavenworth, Kan.)鈥擳he 花椒直播 Stefani Doctor of Physical Therapy
(DPT) program received notice of accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation
in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) on Wednesday, April 29.
"This is a great accomplishment for 花椒直播," said Dr. Bryan Le Beau, provost and
vice president of academic affairs. "The physical therapy department is dedicated
to creating the best learning environment for its students, and this achievement speaks
for their focus on student success."
CAPTE is the only agency in the United States recognized to accredit education programs
for the preparation of physical therapists and is nationally recognized by the U.S.
Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. CAPTE
ensures programs meet the standards for quality set by the profession鈥攖his includes
qualified faculty, program resources, curriculum design, and acceptable student outcomes.
The rigorous accreditaton process began in 2011 with the program's Application for
Candidacy. In May 2012, the DPT program was granted candidacy and admitted its first
class of 38 students. The DPT program has since admitted three additional classes鈥攗sing
lab, classroom, and office space in Berchmans Hall.
The first class of 花椒直播 DPT graduates were pinned during Spring
Commencement and walked with the university's graduates during ceremonies on Saturday,
May 9. With CAPTE accreditation, the DPT graduates are qualified to sit for the physical
therapy licensure examination in July.
"Faculty, staff, and students all made this achievement possible," said Dr. Candy
Bahner, chair of the DPT program. "Everyone invested time, everyone took risks, and
everyone made a commitment to our program's mission. We are excited to watch the program
continue to grow and graduate students who share their God-given talents and knowledge
with their patients and the community."
