(Leavenworth, Kan.)—»¨½·Ö±²¥ Men's Basketball Senior Guard Grant Greenberg reached a new height in his already impressive basketball career. On Saturday, Jan. 7, Greenberg became what's believed to be the all-time leading collegiate scorer in the state of Kansas with 2,993 career points. Since 1988, University of Kansas Forward Danny Manning has held Kansas' all-time leading scorer record with 2,951 points. Manning currently ranks 10th all time in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) history.
Earlier this season, Greenberg passed Cameron Clark of Southwestern College to become
the all-time leading scorer in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) history.
Greenberg passed Clark's 2,450-point mark when he scored 40 points in the second game
of the season at Crowley's Ridge.
Greenberg averages 27 points per game this season, and he has scored the most points
of any National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Men's
Basketball player this year with 578 points.
In his career at »¨½·Ö±²¥, he has averaged 27 points per game, is 53-percent shooter
from the field, and is an 87-percent free-throw shooter.
He has won the KCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week more than a dozen times—by
far the most of any athlete in any athletic program at »¨½·Ö±²¥. Greenberg is also
a two-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Men's Basketball First
Team All-American, while being named to the All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference's
First Team every season. Greenberg was selected as a First Team All-American by the
Jewish Sports Review. And in September 2015, he was named the male recipient of the
NAIA's prestigious Emil S. Liston Award.
USM Head Coach Troy Brown praised Greenberg saying, "Grant has been one of the greatest
basketball players I've ever seen on this level. His work ethic has been second to
none, and this scoring accomplishment is only the beginning in what will be a very
successful career on and off the court for Grant.
"The »¨½·Ö±²¥ Men's Basketball program would like to say thank you to Grant for
being an exceptional student, for representing this program with integrity in the
community, and for being an unbelievable teammate these past four years. Congratulations
to a very deserving young man."
